Preston International Nursery and Primary School

About Us

Preston International Nursery and Primary School commenced educational activities on the 19th of September 2022 with children enroled in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) classes only i.e. Creche, Playgroup, Nursery and Reception.  Preston International Nursery and Primary School is the primary section of the illustrious Preston International Secondary School which was founded in 2006 by British-qualified and well experienced educationists Mr Toyin and Mrs Funmi Ajayi.

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise fine, well-rounded, well-educated, respectable, God-fearing children, who will be adequately prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Our Staged Growth Plan

For the 2022-23 academic session, we decided to start with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) classes only i.e. will be starting with our creche/baby room, playgroup, nursery and reception classes only.  We plan to start KS1 & 2 – Primary 1 to 6 in the 2023-24 academic session.

The Creche/Baby Room (3 months – 18 months)

With an adult to baby ratio of 1:3, our Baby Room has spaces for eight babies and 4 toddlers and is specially designed to meet the needs of our youngest children.

Facilities include an indoor play that is well resourced with age-appropriate toys and resources that aid learning.  This opens up to a cosy outdoor play area with lush green artificial turf and outdoor play equipment.  Adjacent to the indoor play area is the quiet room with individually dedicated cots for sleeping, each fitted with cot mobiles to lull little tots to dream land. The creche also has a separate kitchen and baby changing facilities.

Parents receive a daily record, keeping them informed of how their baby has been throughout the day. A member of the Baby Room staff is also available at the beginning and end of day to discuss each child's day, their meals and their progress towards their milestones.

The Playgroup (18 months – 36 months)

At the playgroup room, we provide care and education for up to 20 children between the ages of approximately 18 months and three years, although this is very flexible depending on each child's needs and stage of development.

Activities include mark making, messy and imaginative play activities, along with age-appropriate construction and mathematics learning resources.  The room has a well-stocked book corner, where the children can listen to stories read by an adult or look at a book independently, and also a 'Toddle Box' for music in the listening area to which they can clap, wiggle, dance and sing along happily.

The Nursery Class (3 – 4 year olds)

The nursery houses up to 20 children who are three to four years old.  The large, purpose built classroom is designed in accordance with international architectural and educational statutory spatial requirements of 5m2 per child, making a variety of rich educational experiences possible for the young ones.   There are different learning areas in the same classroom such as a well-stocked construction area, play area where we have the water and sand trays and other malleable materials, book corner, role play area, writing area, listening area, computer area and carpet area.

The Reception Class (4 – 5 year olds)

Like the nursery class, the reception class is also designed for up to 20 children.  At reception, children begin to take on more focused learning activities and the challenges increase, howbeit in a fun way.  Reading is at the heart of our curriculum in all our classes.

At reception, pupils engage more with listening to stories, poems  and rhymes which feed their imagination, enhance their vocabulary and develop their comprehension skills.  We make sure that we give reading, writing and mathematics in our reception class sufficient direct teaching time every day, with frequent opportunities for children to practice and consolidate their growing knowledge.
