World UN Day (PISSMUN 2019)

“You can’t escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today”-Abraham Lincoln

Preston international school celebrates world UN day on the 2nd of November with the theme “GALVANIZING MULTILATERAL EFFORTS FOR POVERTY ERADICATION, QUALITY EDUCATION, CLIMATE ACTION AND INCLUSION”

The school kicked off with a wonderful parade showcasing the flags of different countries and their traditional wears.

The main event of the day was the general assembly held in the school chapel where over 60 topics were discussed across 34 groups of prestonians. Some of the topics discussed were;

The use of ICT in advancing climate change research,

Promotion of human rights and equality,

Impact of discrimination and conflict on a child’s physical and mental health,

Global warming awareness campaigns,

Use of art and culture to promote peace tolerance, amongst many others…

It was a fun filled event, educational and problem solving. We believe that this set of young chaps will grow to effect the change our nation and the world at large requires.

The day wrapped up with a dance presentation from the school’s dance troupe and finally with the vote of thanks taken by the madam president of the day, Ikuru Annabel (A prestonian prefect). It was indeed an extraordinary event.
